Our Daily Breach: nothing to see here folks

Murdoc tries to follow up on the ADT breaches, instead he finds a new crown holder of negligence.

Going back and visiting these breaches one year later has been eye-opening. So far, most of these companies that got popped have done surprisingly little about it. If they issue a statement, it's not new information or anything they weren't already promising before.

I swear if I read the statement "our clients confidentiality is our top priority" I will go blind with rage and take it out on some company that most likely deserves it.

That said when I do go looking into these breaches again, I usually find some juicy revelation. When it comes to the breach(es) ADT faced last year, I got NOTHING. Like absolutely nothing. I'll need to start adding coals to the forge furnace again because I'll be making a new crown: the crown of radio silence.

ADT is taking this crown because they have provided no official statement or SEC update to either breach they experienced in 2024. Not a single article. Not one post on infosec.exchange.

The only thing I could find of any interest on ADT is that they have not been paying their technicians fair wages. More recently, there is a new lawsuit filed against ADT in West Virginia that seems pretty not ideal for people that rely on these medical alert systems:

ADT was sued for wrongful death on Sept. 10 in West Virginia Circuit Court for McDowell County over the alleged failure of its medical alert system with automatic fall notification. The suit, brought by The Masters Law Firm, alleges that an elderly resident fell at home and was not discovered until the following day, leading to her death from complications.

I'll concede that ADT may have some bigger concerns than following up on a year+ old data breach, but I bet you can already guess one problem they don't have.

ADT Inc. stock is up 22.76% since last year's breach notice

This baffling, horrifying trend continues, yet we must remain silly comrades.
