Our Daily Breach: Breach on Breach action
Holy shit it finally happened. Last week, ShinyHunters fucked around and stole all the Salesforce data, extorting them and dozens of other mostly American companies. As of this morning, they have transitioned into the find out phase.
The breachforums have been breached!

In their "we got owned" letter digitally signed by the ShinyHunters admins, there was a few things to unpack. Here's the full letter:

BreachForums is never coming back, if it comes back, it should immediately be considered a honeypot.
This line jumped out to me, because awww, that's so adorably considerate of them to warn others. Certain publicly traded companies could learn from this.
Look, I know we're not supposed to take the word of criminals or whatever, but this note about the honeypot would explain why the FBI is taking action on the most well known breach forum now. This is speculation but it seems a certain administration needs to make sure certain files never get leaked and it would make sense to set up a trap to catch inside informants.
As shitty as ShinyHunters were for those on the receiving end of their ransomware, they were ultimately just after money. They had no political agenda. We can't say the same about the new owners. In the wrong tiny hands, a breach site is a terrible thing. Happy Breachday and may every day be another wonderful secret that is finally revealed.
